I was honored to be a part of the North Shore Medical Center’s Gourmet Gala to raise money for this year’s walk. This year’s event had a record turnout! It was positively heaving and I missed talking to many people who I knew were there simply because it was hard to move about! Which is fantastic for NSMC! Billy Costa was there to empty everyone’s pockets and did a fabulous job rallying the ebulient crowd. I love going to North Shore events. It’s such a close-knit area, and I end up knowing so many people I sometimes forget I am actually there to WORK the event. It’s hardly work anyway. Rubbing elbows with local celebrities, mingling with my friends in the Chamber, bumping into cousins, sampling all of the amazing restaurants here on the North Shore – all in aid of an amazing cause? It makes for a fun and memorable evening…and I KNOW I made a few new friends along the way.
I haven’t walked The Walk in probably 20 years. Both my mother and sister were diagnosed with (and cured of! YAY!) cancer back in the early 90’s. We walked as the PLATELET POOL! Since then, there have been WAY too many family and friends who have been diagnosed with cancer. Many are now SURVIVORS!! HOORAH!! 🙂 Sadly, many are not.
So to celebrate our victories, and honor those who have fallen, we will walk again! I am trying to rally a bunch of Greater Beverly Chamber peeps to form a team – so “like” and follow the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce Facebook page to either sign up to walk to donate to our team!
June 22nd – MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND JOIN US!
ps: sadly I was too busy shooting to eat much of the food and left starving. I did have two sips of beer, some ice cream from Treadwells, a champagne cupcake from Cakes for Occasions, and a dijon-beef tartare on crostini from 5 Corners Kitchen that was soooo amazingly tastey and so up my alley! (although the garlic lingered a wee bit which required me to have the raspberry ice cream , which did the trick, heh heh)
