Thank you for popping over to our Doggie Photo Booth at Sunday’s Charity Dog Wash to benefit Vested Interest in K-9s! What a terrific day it was, despite the rain! Vendors were on hand to sell their doggie-related wares, we had hot dogs and italian ice, a Puppy Palooza 50/50 tennis ball raffle and a demonstration by Springfield Police Officer Scott Stelzer and his K9 Blek, recipient of a vest in 2013 as a result of that year’s Essex Park Charity Dog Wash.
Officer Stelzer informed us of how these vests not only protect the dogs from firearms, but how they protect them from other dangers, like serious injuries resulting from climbing fences or impalement from sharp tree branches. Blek himself escaped serious injury, and possibly death, when he had climbed a dangerous fence. These vests not only save the dog’s life but the life of the Officers, as these dogs fiercely protect them from harm.
